Company Recognized for Innovation and Creating Jobs

Hundreds of Phoenix-area business leaders filled a packed ballroom on November 22 to witness ComTrans CEO Neal Thomas accept one of the most prestigious awards given to Arizona businesses – the 2013 Spirit of Enterprise Award.

Presented annually by the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University, Spirit of Enterprise Awards recognize small businesses that excel in creating new niche products and services, creating jobs and contributing to area charities.

ComTrans was recognized with the Hahnco Companies Special Achievement in Entrepreneurship Award at the ceremony.

“The distinguishing trait of all of our 2013 honorees is the great story behind their products and services,” said Gary Naumann, director of the Spirit of Enterprise Center at ASU Carey School of Business. “Hard work and unwavering determination to succeed are key facets of these new Spirit alumni.”

Now in its 18th year of operations, ComTrans has a history of creating unique specialty transportation services to serve special needs children and adults with behavioral and health challenges.

The company also gives generously and donates transportation services to a number of charities every year.

“I love what we do,” said Thomas during his acceptance remarks following the showing of a video that showcases the ComTrans business model. “We believe it’s important to always challenge yourself to do better, and that’s what we do every day,” he added.

A highlight of his time on stage came as Thomas led the crowd in song as the ComTrans team sang original lyrics about the company, set to the theme song of the 1960s TV show The Addams Family.
